Student Unite Against Fascism Northern meeting
Thursday 15th October 2009, 3pm-5pm University of Sheffield Union of Students
As the recent provocations by the English Defence League in Birmingham and Harrow have shown, the BNP’s electoral success has also emboldened every racist thug in the country to make their violent contribution to the ‘cause’.
The election of two British National Party MEPs is the biggest electoral breakthrough for a fascist organisation in British history and represents a huge threat to our diverse and multicultural student communities.
The coming months will provide a huge challenge for all those who oppose the BNP’s messages of race hate and bigotry.
Students have a critical part to play in the campaign to stop the BNP playing a significant role in British politics.
Unite Against Fascism (UAF) will be holding a meeting on Thursday 15th October 2009 at The University of Sheffield Union of Students, The Peaks meeting room 3pm-5pm, to bring together students and students’ union officers from across the North and to discuss the way forward for the anti-fascist movement.
Central to our discussions at the meeting will be how Student Unions can lead the way in vigorously opposing the racist climate in society on which the BNP thrives.
Speakers include:
