BNP defeated in Dewsbury by-election
In the October 16 by-election the BNP lost its only seat in Dewsbury.The fascists now have only one seat remaining in Kirklees.
The BNP's share of the vote fell from 27.6% in May to 17% last week. The candidate for the BNP in May stood as an independent in the by-election, winning only 15 votes.
The by-election was caused by the
resignation of the ward’s BNP councillor
Kirklees Unite Against Fascism in alliance
with Huddersfield Trades Council campaigned to
get the anti fascist vote out in the build up to election day.
