Illingworth & Mixenden by-election
A by-election is to be held for a seat on Calderdale council in West Yorkshire. Voting will take place on the 22nd February in Illingworth & Mixenden ward following the death of Councillor Tom McElroy.
This ward already has two BNP councillors. One of them, Richard Mullhall, was recently convicted of fraud (read the Yorkshire Post article). At the beginning of January Brian Wainwright, another local BNP member, was found guilty of sending swastikas and threats through the post (read the Halifax Courier article).
Calderdale Unity are seeking support to ensure that the electorate of the ward are fully informed of the threat and encouraged to vote to prevent any more fascists from being elected.
